The Brunch Edit: Hatch & Sons

Sat nestled below the Little Museum of Dublin is Hatch & Sons Irish Kitchen. I've walked past this restaurant many a time on my way to work and have always been attracted to their little courtyard and equally appealing menu, so last week on my day off, I went and finally ticked this place off my list.

I love how Hatch & Sons celebrate the use of Irish ingredients throughtout their menu and their motto sums this place to a tee.
"All day dining of an informal and easy nature. No fuss, just good, honest, Irish food"

I was very lucky as the weather was hot and humid on the day and was perfect to sit outside, when situations like this present themselves in Ireland you have to sieze them. I could hardly believe we were getting this in September.

The waiter kindly sat me in the sunniest corner of the courtyard and took my coffee order while I perused what was on offer. The great thing about this menu is that they do breakfast items all day, which means you can grab your brunch fix anytime of the day.

As it was nearing lunch and I hadn't eaten, I was looking for a eggs and I got it in the form of their infamous Double Baked Eggs, Brown Soda Bread, Bacon and Sausage (sorry I'm just not a fan of tomatoes) €9.50 which was beautifully presented and arrived still sizzing in the skillet. The food was delicious and filling and the coffee spot on.

As I went to pay my bill inside I half wished the day wasn't so nice as the interiors were definitely to my liking and it felt as if I was walking into someones old country kitchen which felt warm and familar. It would be a lovely place to have a lazy morning here, enjoying a coffee and reading the newspaper but be warned as I was leaving, the lunch rush was beginning and with it's prime location at Stephen's Green I can only assume it gets very busy.

The food was honest and delicious and very resonably priced considering it's location, and the service was genuinely friendly. My only regret is not taking one of their mouthwatering treats home with me, that being said I will certainly be back to Hatch & Son's again.

Have you stumbled across this little gem?
