5 reasons why I'm excited to visit New York...again!

After weeks of deliberation and chopping and changing I have finally booked a trip to New York in 4 weeks time! This will be the third time visiting the Big Apple and I think it has the potential to be one of the best. Don't get me wrong, my last two visits were incredible and I was able to experience what New York is like in Summer and at Christmas and visit all the major attractions but this time I hope to take a more relaxed pace and really enjoy what New York has to offer. As I mentioned in a previous post here this will be a solo trip and I can't wait to be a little selfish and take time for me.

So here are five wants and wishes I hope to get out of the city that never sleeps...

1. Leaf Peeping in Central Park
Undoubtedly, this has to be the main reason I wanted to visit New York. Autumn is my favourite season, I love the cold, crisp weather and being able to layer up with big coats, scarfs and woolly hats but what I get most excited about are the Autumn colours. Living in Ireland, the types of trees we have don't really turn the vivid shades of red, yellow and orange, and to me this is the epitome of Autumn so this is why I'm looking forward to spending time wandering around Central Park trying to capture it's stunning fall foliage through my camera lens.

2. Visit a Broadway Show
Ok, so this is pretty touristy but I never managed to get tickets on the last visits so as I am going solo I thought it would be nice way to spend one of the evenings. I have booked to see Aladdin and I CAN NOT WAIT. I am a big Disney fan, still at the ripe old age of 32 and I will always remember how I felt after watching my first West End show of The Lion King. I was in utter amazement and pretty sure my jaw was on the floor for most of the performance, not to mention the many tears so I am hoping Aladdin will be just as magical and spectacular.

3. Exploring Brooklyn
The closest I have gotten to Brooklyn before, was walking only halfway across the bridge (I'm kicking myself for not carrying on). This time around I plan to walk the length of the bridge and explore the amazing areas friends have raved about including Williamsburg, DUMBO, Brooklyn Heights and Prospect Park. I cant wait to see the Manhattan skyline from it's vantage point, the beautiful Brooklyn brownstones, the unique street art, and find hidden gems at Brooklyn Flea Market and sample delicious food at Smorgasburg. I have a feeling I'm going to fall in love with Brooklyn HARD!

4. Eat my way through NYC
Can you believe I have never had a pizza, bagels, hot dogs or cheesecake whist in New York, you probably think this is sacrilege...and to be honest, it is! That's why this time round I am planning to eat everything iconic to New York with no regrets and of course add a little insulation for the colder months to come.

5. Shop till I Drop
You probably won't believe me either when I say I have never really shopped in New York either but it's true. The first time I visited was on a solo, seven stop adventure around the world and being my first stop I was conscious of money and carrying anything wasn't a necessity so decided to avoid any shopping at all. On my second visit I travelled with my boyfriend at the time. As he had never visited before we did all the major attractions and soaked in the festive atmosphere, it never registered on mind to shop at all. So my plan for this trip will consist of shopping all the places we aren't lucky enough to have in Ireland/UK such as Sephora and Bath and Body Works to name a few. I can just see New York burning a hole in my pocket but it will all be worth it.

Here's to hopefully one of the best trips to date.

I would love to hear any recommendations you have for the city - so please comment below.
